Waterfowl Opportunities
Sea Duck Hunting
Sea Ducks make up over 40% of North Americas Duck Species and spend their time on large open bodies of water such as the Atlantic ocean. As the cooler months approach the Sea Ducks make their way south to more tolerable conditions. By the end of September our nearshore water off the beach is filled with Sea Ducks! Large strings of birds can be seen all day trading north and south as the feed on oyster rocks and live bottom just off our coast. To hunt these birds we utilize our 21 foot Duck Water Ocean 21 as well as our layout boats. Our spreads consist of hand painted foam decoys and Tangle Free foam filled decoys rigged on long lines and decoy rafts from Southern Flyway Outfitters.
Open Water Diver Hunts
When targeting diver ducks in open water we focus our efforts in the new river as well as the lower Pamlico Sound. Blue Bills, Red Heads, Buffle Heads & Mergansers are the common divers we run into here in Coastal North Carolina. Shooting fast flying Diver Ducks over the open water is hard to beat.
Upland Bird Opportunities
Woodcock Hunts
As a dedicated upland guide based in coastal North Carolina, I offer specialized woodcock hunts that highlight the migration magic of the American timberdoodle. Working behind well-trained dogs in lowland thickets and swamps, I guide hunters through some of the most productive and scenic coverts in the region. With a focus on ethical, fair-chase hunting and habitat stewardship, my goal is to provide an authentic, rewarding experience rooted in the rich traditions of Southern upland hunting.
Clapper and Sora Rail Hunts
Rail hunting here along the North Carolina coast is a great way to knock the dust off and get used to shooting your shotgun before duck season. When hunting Rails we wait for the big full moon and new moon tides to flood the Spartina grass flats. As the water floods it pushes the rails to group up around the few remaining thicker grass clusters. We pole from thick grass patch to thick grass patch in anticipation of flushing birds. If you like wild flushing birds and lots of shooting then rail hunting is for you!
Snipe and Virginia Rail Hunts
Based in coastal North Carolina, I specialize in guided hunts for Wilson’s snipe and Virginia rails—two of the most challenging and underappreciated game birds in the American South. Navigating marshes, wet meadows, and flooded lowlands, I guide hunters through prime habitat using a mix of woodsmanship, timing, and experienced bird dogs. Whether you're after fast flushes over open mud or tight-holding birds in thick cover, these hunts offer a uniquely rewarding wingshooting experience steeped in tradition and grit.
Cast & Blast / Upland
We have multiple different cast and blast options if you can’t choose between fishing and hunting. Rails and tails which is rail hunting while looking for tailing redfish on the flooded grass flats. Seaducks and Speckled trout which consists of a morning of shooting common and surf scooters with an afternoon of speckled trout fishing. Also ask about shooting Quail, Pheasant & Chuckers with our partners at Iron Horn Farms!
